Roleplay at Stanhope School

Friday 4th July the year 6 gang spent the morning preparing stories about the lives of young workers in the quarries. Working from images  of boys who were photographed in the limestone quarries of Weardale, they were given free range to come up with their own ideas of what life was like back then. Many suffered serious maimings and traumatic amputations, most were the main breadwinners for their families and almost all had a pet! Well it's probably all true. We spent the afternoon filming them in costume reciting (reading) their stories in between falling about laughing. It was a bloomin' good day.
